BEIJIN -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has urged Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda to visit China at an early date, according to the government's take on remarks made by Wen to visiting Japanese businessmen. "We are fully aware of Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda's personal history and beliefs, and we believe that he will try hard to improve China-Japan relations," he was quoted as telling a visiting Japanese business leader and former prime ministers. His remarks have been interpreted by Japanese government officials as urging Fukuda to visit China within this year. Wen met with Fujio Mitarai, leader of the Nippon Keidanren business organization, as well as former prime ministers Tomiichi Murayama and Yoshiro Mori in Beijing on Thursday. (Mainichi)
