Chuo U. teacher sacked for sexual harassment -- again PDF Print E-mail

Chuo University in Tokyo dismissed a 30-year-old full-time instructor Saturday for sexually harassing a female student, university official said. The punitive measure came only seven months after a professor at the university was fired in March for sexual harassment.

"He abused his power as an instructor to commit the act. We're deeply sorry for the victim," a university spokesman said. The university has withheld his name.

The instructor, of the university's faculty of commerce, molested his victim in his office and other locations in the university in Hachioji, western Tokyo, between 2005 and earlier this year, according to the institution's public relations division.

The university announced their decision to fire the instructor on Sept. 28, which he appealed. The disciplinary panel dismissed his appeal and his dismissal was fixed on Saturday.
