YOKOHAMA -- A container plunged from a trailer traveling on an expressway here on Wednesday morning, police said. Nobody was injured in the accident. A six-kilometer section of the Tokyo-bound lanes of the Metropolitan Expressway Bay Route were closed because the trailer and the container were blocking the lanes. At around 9:30 a.m., the container fell from the 38-ton trailer onto the expressway in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, prefectural police said. No one was injured in the accident, including the 54-year-old driver of the truck that was towing the trailer. Investigators suspect that the trailer was hit by a strong gust of wind, causing the container to fall onto the road. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
