NARA -- A 75-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for murdering an 83-year-old woman acquaintance, police said.

Akio Yoshida allegedly strangled Naoko Maeda with a towel at her home in Nara earlier this month.

Yoshida asked a worker at JR Obama Station in Fukui Prefecture to call police late on Friday, saying he had committed a crime. At a local police station, he told officers that he had killed Maeda on Wednesday morning. (Mainichi)
