Exhibitionist trio busted for nude photos taken outside government building

MIYAZAKI -- A man and two women have been arrested for taking photos in the nude in front of the Miyazaki Prefectural Government building, an increasingly popular site since Hideo Higashikokubaru became governor a year ago, police said.

Arrested for indecent exposure were Miyazaki restaurant workers Hiroyuki Asakura, 42, Mitsumi Takahashi, 36, and Megumi Ifuku, 24.

All three admit to the allegations against them.

Police said on a September morning last year Takahashi and Ifuku stripped nude and stood in front of the prefectural government building while Asakura took photos of them.

Asakura's photos were posted on a website the three ran, police said. An anonymous tip-off was forwarded to the police, who followed up and arrested the restaurant workers. The website contained posts from the three where they boasted of places where they would take nude photos, announcing the times the shots would be taken.

The prefectural government building has become a popular attraction for Miyazaki visitors over the past year following the election of Higashikokubaru -- a nationally known figure following a successful comic career performing under the name of Sonomanma Higashi. About 290,000 tourists are estimated to have visited the prefectural government building since April last year.
