A gang member was slapped with new charges for selling stimulant drugs on the Internet, police said. Tsutomu Yokokawa, 34, a member of a gang affiliated with the Inagawa-kai criminal syndicate, stands accused of violating the Stimulant Drugs Control Law. A joint task force made up from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and Shimane Prefectural Police announced on Tuesday that Yokokawa - who has earlier been charged for violating the Law concerning Special Provisions for the Narcotics and Psychotropics Control Law - was hit with the fresh charges. According to police, Yokokawa, of no fixed address, sold 0.3 grams of a stimulant drug to a 59-year-old unemployed man from Hamada, Shimane Prefecture, for 30,000 yen and sent the drug to the client via parcel delivery service on July 16 last year. "I sold the drug to earn extra money. I bought it from an Iranian," Yokokawa was quoted as telling police. Yokokawa allegedly looked for his clients through bulletin boards on the Internet and sold drugs via parcel delivery services or simply handed them over to his clients. In October last year, he was found to be possessing about 1 gram of a stimulant drug inside his car while being questioned by police in Tokyo and was immediately arrested on charges of violating the Stimulant Drugs Control Law. The joint task force has already arrested a total of 13 people in Tokyo and seven other prefectures who were alleged clients of Yokokawa. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS.
