TOKOROZAWA, Saitama -- A man who teamed up with his lover to strangle her husband to death and rob him has been arrested, police said. Masaaki Ohara, 64, an unemployed man of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of murder-robbery and abandoning a corpse. "I had some debts and needed money," Ohara told police in admitting to the allegations. Ohara conspired with his lover Fumiko Takahashi, 68, to strangle to death her husband, Ryoichi Takahashi, 75, with a plastic rope at his home in Tokorozawa at around noon on May 23, according to local police. The two then stole the victim's bankbook and seal, police said. Fumiko Takahashi was arrested for murder after she turned herself in to police on June 1. She initially said she committed the crime herself. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
