Japan Airlines (JAL) has launched a special Olympic aircraft bearing the images of past medal-winning Japanese athletes ahead of the Beijing Games in August. The Boeing 777-300 jet depicts seven athletes along with their handwritten messages of support for Japan's athletes at the upcoming games. The newly designed plane made a debut flight between Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Sapporo, and will continue to operate until the end of the Olympic Games, also flying between Haneda and Naha, in Okinawa, and between Osaka (Itami) and Sapporo. Featured on the 70-meter-long plane are pictures of past athletes Yasuhiro Yamashita (judo), Yuko Arimori (marathon), Daichi Suzuki (swimming), Shinji Morisue (gymnastics), Mikako Kotani (synchronized swimming), Toshihiko Koga (judo), and Kyoko Iwasaki (swimming). Crew members will wear badges displaying the phrase "Go for it! Japan!" in a bid to drum up support for Japan's athletes. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
