Japanese woman found fatally slashed in northern Thailand PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 26 November 2007

BANGKOK -- A woman believed to be a Japanese national has been found fatally slashed on the neck at a World Heritage site in northern Thailand, local police said.

She was carrying an ID card of Tomoko Kawashita, 27, issued by an elephant trainer school, as well as about 3,000 baht, or approximately 10,000 yen. However, her passport has not been found.

Local police have transported the body to Bangkok, and are trying to confirm her identity.

The woman was found lying on the ground at Sukhothai Historical Park in northern Thailand, which has been designated as a World Heritage site, on Sunday afternoon, bleeding from her neck.

She had an air ticket from Luang Prabang, a World Heritage site in Laos, leading investigators to suspect that she was a tourist visiting World Heritage sites.

A photo of Tomoko, please!
written by francois , January 30, 2008
Last year, in december 2006, I met in Luang Prabang a young woman from japan, in the name of Tomoko Kawashita, 26, from Osaka. We were in the same guest house. She was very nice, very pretty and gentle. I liked her very much. Please, don't tell me that she is the same murdered person. Can anybody provide a photo of the murdered?
Thank you in advance.
Francois.

Tomoko Kawashita
written by Daniel , February 05, 2008
Hi Francois,

We are one hundred percent certain that the Tomoko you met in Luang Prabang is the Tomoko who was murdered. We met her too in Laos (Huay Zai, Pak Beng, Luang Prabang, etc.)

We were also fortunate enough to meet her parents when they came to Thailand to get Tomoko's body. We, and more importantly the family, would be tremendously grateful for whatever information, stories, and photos you could provide and send. Please, be as detailed as possible.

We have some pictures you might like to see, too. We'll wait for your response.
