MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) -- Bahrain beat Japan 1-0 on a 77th-minute goal by Ala'a Hubail on Wednesday, claiming the World Cup qualifier for its first win over the perennial Asian power. The goal was Hubail's second in as many games, taking a cross from Ismaeel Abdullatif and looping a header over of Yuji Nakazawa. "This is just a fantastic show," Bahrain's Czech manager Milan Macala said. "Japan is a very strong team, but we knew we were good enough to give them a run for their money." The victory left Bahrain atop Group B with six points, three better than Japan and Oman, which beat Thailand earlier in the day 1-0. "It is an extremely disappointing result for us," Japan manager Takeshi Okada said. "We made several mistakes and let them dominate the match. We should have been a little more aggressive."
