KIMITSU, Chiba -- A man accused of stabbing a junior high school girl has told investigators that he had intended to commit suicide afterwards, police said. Toshio Shimazaki, 36, a resident of Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, stands accused of attempted murder. "I intended to kill myself after stabbing her. I'd met her several times before," Shimazaki was quoted as telling investigators, adding that he had met her through a mobile phone matchmaking site. Police are continuing to question him. The attack occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on Friday, when Shimazaki waylaid the 14-year-old girl near her home at an apartment block in Kimitsu and stabbed her in the face and stomach, leaving her with serious injuries. Two other residents of the apartment block heard her screams, overpowered Shimazaki and handed him over to police. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
