KITAKYUSHU -- A man has been arrested for forcing his 11-year-old son to sneak into an apartment here and steal valuables worth more than 700,000 yen, police said. The 37-year-old construction worker from Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, stands accused of theft. His name was not disclosed to withhold the identity of the boy. "I committed about 20 thefts with my father," the son was quoted as telling investigators during questioning. The boy sneaked into a 30-year-old man's apartment in Kokuraminami-ku, Kitakyushu, through an unlocked window Sunday afternoon, and unlocked the front door on the order of his father, local police said. The father then entered the apartment and stole 38,500 yen in cash and 31 jewelry items worth nearly 689,000 yen with his son, according to investigators.
