FUKUOKA -- A man who kicked a 5-year-old girl in the face at a train station here has been arrested, police said. Arrested on suspicion of assault was Nobuyoshi Abe, 47, a resident of Fukuoka's Higashi-ku. He has reportedly admitted to the allegations against him. Police said that Abe approached a woman who was with her 5-year-old daughter in a pharmacy at Chihaya Station in Higashi-ku at about 10 p.m. on Sunday, and kicked the young girl in the face. After the attack, Abe continued to walk toward the station platform, but a police officer who arrived at the scene arrested him. Police are continuing to question Abe over his motives for the attack.
