SHIMADA, Shizuoka -- A 28-year-old man died, apparently after being stabbed by his lover, when he visited the woman's home with his wife on Tuesday evening to discuss their affair, police said. Investigators identified the victim as Mitsugu Shinagawa, 28, a resident of Shizuoka's Suruga-ku. Police rushed to the woman's home in Shimada after an emergency call was made at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, saying someone had been stabbed. When they arrived, they found Shinagawa lying down, bleeding from the chest. He was taken to a hospital, but died soon afterwards. The 24-year-old woman apparently stabbed Shinagawa over problems tied to their affair, police said, adding that she had also been hit in the face and was hospitalized. Police are waiting for her to recover to question her on suspicion of murder. Investigators said Shinagawa and his 34-year-old wife had been talking with the woman about their relationship, but the discussion apparently turned sour. Police said the woman's 54-year-old father turned up at her home after thinking it was suspicious that she wasn't answering her phone, and Shinagawa and his wife temporarily left the room with the father. When they later returned, Shinagawa was reportedly stabbed. A female cousin of the woman who later arrived alerted police. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
