KORIYAMA, Fukushima -- A man was arrested Tuesday for abducting a 10-year-old girl, investigators said. The 27-year-old man from Koriyama, whose name was not immediately disclosed, stands accused of the abduction of a minor. The man was taken into custody after he turned himself in at a police box earlier in the day and admitted to taking the girl away. According to local police, the 10-year-old girl from Koriyama went missing after she left school on Monday evening. Her family filed a report to police on her disappearance. At around 5:30 a.m. the next day, her 62-year-old grandfather found the girl walking near her home. She was not injured. Investigators suspect that the girl was taken away in a car by the man after she finished training with her track team and left her school for home at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. She was allegedly released on Tuesday morning. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
