A Kanagawa Prefecture man shot a hiker in a suburban Tokyo forest over the weekend after he mistakenly thought he was a wild boar, police said. The 57-year-old man from Hiratsuka is being questioned over the incident that occurred while he was hunting in the Okutama area of outer Tokyo. The 38-year-old man from Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, was shot in the arm, but expected to recover fully from his wounds after a few weeks of treatment. The Hiratsuka man, who may face a charge of negligence resulting in injury, has admitted to his error. "I mistakenly thought he was an animal," the man said. Police said the shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon.
