YOTSUKAIDO, Chiba -- A man was arrested after attempting to rob a convenience store in front of a police box here early Saturday morning, police said. The suspect, Hiromitsu Satoyama, 40, committed the crime a week after he was released from prison. "I came here to look for a job, but I was stuck for money," he was quoted as telling investigators. Satoyama threatened a 24-year-old part-time worker with a knife at the Seven-Eleven Yotsukaido-Asahigaoka outlet in Yotsukaido at about 5:15 a.m. on Saturday and demanded money, local police said. The worker ran into the office of the store where he made an emergency call to police. After a failed attempt to pry open the cash register, Satoyama tried to escape after an alarm was set off, only to be arrested by officers who rushed from the police box just in front of the store.
