MATSUMOTO, Nagano -- Testing of all employees at Matsumoto Castle about their knowledge of the national treasure has started in the hope it will lead them to provide better service to visitors, operators said. All employees of the castle will be quizzed weekly about the castle for almost a year. Employees will be allowed to use notes and then compare answers on the day after the test is handed out. "By making people look up things, their knowledge will remain in their memories," said Sadatoshi Oana, head of the castle's administrative office. Tests about the castle will be given out every Monday to the roughly 60 workers manning the castle's kiosks and performing other tasks. The tests each contain 10 questions about the castle's history, construction and legends surrounding the national treasure. Castle operators will hand out 50 tests almost every week until March next year. Answers for the first quiz were handed out to workers on Tuesday. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS.
