Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd is set to launch sales of a high-priced electric bicycle that can cover a distance of up to about 150 kilometers on a single charge, the company has announced. The "Titanium Flat Road EB" bicycle will go on sale on March 25, priced at between 585,000 and 724,620 yen -- far more than the price of regular electric bicycles, which retail for about 100,000 yen. A selling point of the bike is that customers can choose from 56 frame colors and have their name put on the frame. The frame is not made from regular aluminum, but from a strong and light titanium alloy. Fully charged, the bicycle can reportedly cover a distance of up to 151 kilometers. The company, which will change its name to Panasonic later this year, will limit sales to the Internet, targeting members of the baby-boom generation who lead rich lifestyles and are health-conscious.
