Table tennis prodigy Ai Fukuhara appears on the verge of dropping out of Waseda University due to conflict with her sporting career, her father hinted over the weekend. Takehiko Fukuhara said his daughter may drop out of the prestigious private university where she is enrolled in the sports faculty. "It's no good if she's only doing it in half-measures," he said. Fukuhara, already selected for the Japanese team to compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in August, is barely attending her classes and is unlikely to be able to finish her degree in four years. Her father said he would talk to his daughter and they would decide what path her career will take. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
