HIROSHIMA -- Police will demand that four U.S. Marines accused of raping a woman here be handed over to their custody under the Japan-U.S. Status-of-Forces Agreement, officials said. Hiroshima Prefectural Police have already confirmed the identities of the four Marines stationed at U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and are preparing to apply to a local court for arrest warrants for the suspects. The four, whose identities were not immediately disclosed, are currently being detained at the base. The 19-year-old woman has filed a criminal complaint with prefectural police, accusing the four of sexually assaulting her in a car in Hiroshima in the early hours of Oct. 14, investigators said. The woman told investigators that she was formerly a part-time employee at the base.
