Former Japanese idol Yuki Goto should be jailed for eight years for theft, public prosecutors have told the Tokyo District Court. Prosecutors demanded the sentence for Goto, a former member of the disbanded idol unit EE Jump, at a hearing on Monday. The 21-year-old is accused of stealing copper wire from a construction site, and faces charges including theft and robbery resulting in injury. A ruling on the case is set to be handed down on May 21. Goto is the younger brother of Maki Goto, a former member of the all-girl pop group Morning Musume. He made his debut with EE Jump in 2000 under the name Yuki, but quit the group and show business in 2002. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
