YOKOHAMA -- About 400 passengers were forced to walk along railway tracks to a nearby station here after a power failure suspended a municipal subway train early Thursday morning. The power failure also delayed other trains on the subway line by up to two hours and 10 minutes, affecting some 67,000 passengers. City authorities attributed the cause of the power failure to a short circuit that occurred in the power output section of the train. According to the Yokohama Municipal Government's Bureau of Transportation, the power failure occurred when a Yokohama Municipal Subway train bound for Shonandai Station was approaching Nakamachidai Station at around 7:10 a.m. Thursday. The train then coasted along the track and stopped at the station. A following train came to a halt about 500 meters before the station. Subway workers led about 400 passengers onto the railway tracks and guided them to the station.
