TAKAHATA, Yamagata -- The father of a 16-year-old schoolgirl who committed suicide a year ago has made a public plea for education authorities to reinvestigate her case to determine whether she took her own life because she had been bullied. The man revealed that his daughter had left what appeared to have been a suicide note on her mobile phone e-mail before taking her own life in November last year. The father said that it appeared that his daughter had felt so hounded by bullies that she took her own life. He asked prefectural board of education officials to look once more into the girl's case to see whether school harassment had been the driving factor in her suicide.
