MATSUDO, Chiba -- A 17-year-old boy who viciously attacked a schoolboy with a baseball bat following online arguments has been sent to a court here for evaluation with the recommendation he face criminal charges, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors sent the boy accused of attempted murder to the Matsudo Branch of the Chiba Family Court where he will be placed under supervision for two weeks while being held at the Chiba Juvenile Classification Office. The boy can be held for up to eight weeks while the court hears his case. The court has the option of sending the boy to prosecutors to be tried on criminal charges or placing him in a juvenile reformatory. Police arrested the boy after he allegedly tried to kill a 14-year-old schoolboy by repeatedly battering him to the head with a baseball bat. Police said the pair met up online, but clashed after the older boy posted a message slurring the younger boy's clothes. Police said the older boy called the other teen to a convenience store in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, then drove him to a park in the same city and unleashed the near-fatal attack.
