NAGOYA -- A man convicted of raping 16 women over a period of four years in a reign of terror through Gifu and Aichi prefectures has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Nagoya District Court. Takanori Shiokawa, 38, unemployed of no fixed address, was found guilty of numerous offenses including 16 counts of rape and was ordered to serve life imprisonment. "You are habitual," Presiding Judge Shinichiro Ito told Shiokawa as he sentenced him. "It was a cruel and malicious crime and some victims have been left so filled with anxiety that they tried to take their own lives."
