A yakuza boss has been arrested after a gang member was caught in possession of several guns at his home, police said Monday. Hideo Amagai, 58, head of a criminal syndicate affiliated with Kyokuto-kai, stands accused of violating the Firearms and Swords Control Law. Amagai has denied the allegations. Amagai, from Nakano-ku, Tokyo, was arrested after three hand guns, 61 bullets and a quasi-air gun were found in storage beneath the stairs of a 53-year-old man's home in the same ward on Oct. 14, local police said. The man is also affiliated with the crime syndicate. "I was told to look after these by our boss. I didn't know that they were guns," the 53-year-old was quoted as telling police. The man had been arrested for violating the Firearms and Swords Control Law, but was later released. Investigators have found evidence of bullets having been fired from the three guns.
