A suspected yakuza has died at the hands of a fellow gang member following a fight in a pub in the Kabukicho entertainment district of Tokyo, police said. Arrested for the murder of the Kyokuto-kai gang member was Katsumi Yamazaki, 51, also a member of the group. The identity of the alleged victim has yet to be confirmed. Yamazaki admits to the allegations. "I hated the guy," he told the police. Police said Yamazaki stabbed the other gang member in the back while they were in a Kabukicho pub on Tuesday night. Emergency medical services received a call from the pub shortly afterward, saying that a customer had been stabbed in the back. Police officers arrived on the scene to find the man collapsed with the knife still stuck in his back. He was confirmed dead a little while later. Yamazaki had run into a nearby police box, where he admitted to carrying out the stabbing, police said. He was arrested initially for attempted murder, but the charge was upgraded to murder following the other man's death, police said. Copyright 2005-2006 THE MAINICHI NEWSPAPERS. All rights reserved.
