ISAHAYA, Nagasaki -- A 20-year-old company employee has been arrested for kidnapping a 12-year-old girl and holding her at his home for over a week after they became acquainted through her blog on the Internet. The girl suffered no injuries and is in a good condition, according to police. Yusuke Sakamoto, from Osaka's Fukushima-ku, was arrested on suspicion of abducting a minor. Sakamoto has admitted to the allegations. "I wanted to be close to the girl," he was quoted as telling police. According to police, Sakamoto had become acquainted with the girl after he left messages on her blog at the end of July. He left such messages as "There's a vacancy at my home," and "Why don't you come over to Osaka? I can pick you up at Kokura." On Oct. 6, Sakamoto met with the girl at JR Kokura Station in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, and took her to his condominium where he was living alone. Police are further investigating Sakamoto over what happened while the girl was staying at his apartment for eight days. When she left her home, the girl, who is in the sixth-grade at elementary school, left a note to her family that read, "Please don't search for me." The family reported her disappearance to Isahaya Police Station on the same day. While at Sakamoto's home, the girl sent e-mail messages to her parents, telling them, "I am doing well. Please don't worry about me," using her own personal computer that she had taken with her. Police tracked down the kidnapper after analyzing the IP address of the e-mail messages and blog entries. They raided Sakamoto's home on Saturday and found the girl there. The blog talked about her impression of girls' manga comic books that she read as well as other topics.
