Ancient ruins in 37 places have been discovered in Yomitan, the oldest being the Toguchiagaribaru ruins which were discovered in 2-3 meters of water. Theruins are remnants of ancient Okinawan earthenware. Scientists speculate this could have been crafted approximately 6000 years ago.
